Bondi Discloses Investigation into Trump Rivals and Jeffrey Epstein Connections

This past Friday, Pam Bondi assigned Jay Clayton to lead an inquiry into opponents of Donald Trump and their relationships with the late financier. This decision came hours after the president directed her to initiate the investigation.

In a statement, the Attorney General praised Jay Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. She stated, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”

This action seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from justice department officials which stated that documents related to Epstein did not warrant additional investigations. According to the document, authorities “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”

Trump Calls for Scrutiny of Democrats in the Epstein Matter

This news coincides with increasing pressure from the president on lawmakers to resist the full release of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision in the coming days. Several lawmakers are anticipated to back the release.

Recently released emails from Epstein have brought attention to the president’s previous connections with the convicted criminal, revealing information that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.

That same day, Trump announced he would ask the Department of Justice to examine Epstein’s ties with Democrats, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
